Mike Alessi Visits Indianapolis Day Care

There’s more to a weekend of racing the Monster Energy Supercross Series than just showing up at the track and clicking off laps. Feld Entertainment, the promoter of the traveling series, knows that establishing a connection with the local market of each round will help bring new fans into the sport and they attempt to do so with a number of unique initiatives. The most common deal is the early morning television news appearances that show the high-flying jumps of the track with a selection of riders and then put a television personality who is unfamiliar with motocross onto a mini bike for simple runs up and down the flat start section, but Feld has recently put new programs in place for the 2019 season, which Mike Alessi participated in ahead of the Indianapolis Supercross.

The day before the race, Alessi and the Supercross crew visited the Day Early Learning Center, an institution that has helped educate Indiana children for over one hundred years. The location that Alessi visited was located at the State Government Building in downtown Indianapolis which serves as an asset for state employees and caters to children between three to five years old. As a father to an infant, Alessi was eager to interact with the kids and employees at Day Early Learning Center.

Feld and Alessi wanted to make sure that the kids had something to remember the day by. In addition to the usual autograph poster stock, Feld and Alessi presented the kids with youth-size riding jerseys and other apparel, plus two special wagons that had been made to resemble a Supercross-ready motorcycle.

In order for our sport to grow, it’s important that riders and promoters reach out to people in special ways. If not for the daycare visit, who knows when or if the children would have become aware of Supercross? Props to Feld Entertainment and Alessi for their effort.
