The fifth round of the 2023 Pro Motocross Championship is officially underway, as riders spent Saturday morning logging laps during qualifying at the 2023 RedBud Motocross. For the most part, the challenging and slippery course helped produce incredibly close lap times in both classes. Just fractions of a second split the front-runners in the 250MX and 450MX Class on the qualifying sheets, which ratcheted up the anticipation for today’s racing even more. Here’s a look at the fastest lap times and results…

Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s rookie talent Daxton Bennick made the job to the pro division for this weekend and was impressive immediately. The rookie set the fastest lap time in the 250 class, a 2:06.880, in his early group B qualifier.

Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha teammate Justin Cooper was back at the races after a bad get off in qualifying at High Point. Justin laid down a 2:07.484 late in the final qualifier to jump up into second on the time sheets.

Team Honda HRC’s Hunter Lawrence was just behind, as the current 250MX championship points-leader logged a 2:07.693 in the first session of riding.

As expected, Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence laid down the fastest lap time, again. The current 450MX championship points-leader logged an impressive 2:04.713 in the opening session of qualifying, over two seconds faster than the next best time.

Team Honda HRC’s Chase Sexton is back at the races after some needed time off. The 2023 Monster Energy Supercross champion logged the second best lap time, a 2:06.145.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson is also making his return to racing this weekend and seemed to be up to speed the second he hit the track. El Hombre logged a 2:07.867, the third best lap time in the 450MX class.
