The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is in Morrison, CO for the third race of the summer, the 2022 Thunder Valley Motocross. The day in Colorado began with clear skies and already high temperatures, weather conditions that will play a role throughout the third round as temperatures will continue to rise. Riders cut in lines during the morning’s practices, when the track was at its best during the early minutes of the first sessions.

450 CLASS QUALIFYING REPORT & RESULTS

The 450 class saw the track first this morning and will also line-up first for racing later on today, due to the NBC broadcast. Current 450MX championship points leader Chase Sexton kept his momentum going this morning in Colorado, as the Honda HRC rider was the fastest rider on-track. Sexton logged a blistering fast 2:14.509 in the final session of qualifying, which was nearly a full second faster than the next best time.

Eli Tomac was next on the time sheets, as the Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider followed up Sexton’s fast lap with a 2:15.397 in the final session of qualifying. That lap time placed the Colorado native in second place in qualifying

Honda HRC’s Ken Roczen round out the top-3 in 450MX timed qualifying, as he logged a 2:15.601 in the second and final session of riding before the first motos. That lap time placed him just ahead of Jason Anderson, as Roczen’s fast lap was nearly a second faster than Jason’s.

250 CLASS QUALIFYING REPORT & RESULTS

Round three of the 2022 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross championship is set to be a challenging one for racers, as extreme temperatures and elevation are certainly going to affect both the riders and their machines. The 250MX class will see most of the difficulties, as the elevation will play more of a role on affecting the small-bore machines.

Michael Mosiman came out swinging at Thunder Valley, as the Red Bull/Gas Gas/Troy Lee Designs rider logged a 2:16.916 in the final session of qualifying, which proved to be unbeatable by the competition. After a great performance in timed qualifying, who’s to say we won’t see another moto win out of Michael.

Current 250MX Pro Motocross Championship points leader Jett Lawrence was next on the time sheets, as the Honda HRC rider logged a 2:17.267 in the second session of qualifying. Though, he attempted a few more fast laps to take down Michael’s fastest time but wasn’t able to top his best.

Brother, Hunter Lawrence rounded out the top-3 in timed qualifying, as the Honda HRC rider logged a 2:17.319. Hunter’s best lap was just a few tenths off of Jett’s time, drawing speculation of the Lawrence brothers having another close race today.
